Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital’s art goal was to develop a multimedia art program for the 4-story West Wing hospital expansion that supported Planetree healing concepts and the local artistic community while reflecting contemporary life in Virginia Beach, and their “high tech / high touch” approach to healing.

Response to a local Call to Artist was so positive and stirred such excitement in the local art community that Distinctive Art Source established seven rotating art galleries in public areas to display local artist’s work on a quarterly basis. Additional selected artwork supported floor by floor patient populations while reinforcing existing hospital programs.

A commissioned heart sculpture and original canvas work identify the entrance to the new Heart Center while a heartwarming photograph of puppies in the surf and other iconic locations keep visitors close to the surrounding beach while visiting the hospital.
