The design intent at Caton Hill Medical Center was to build a bridge to wellness by creating a physical marker in the community that embraced the natural beauty of the Woodbridge area. Large windows on each floor keep patients close to nature and natural light while providing views to mature trees, garden paths and adjacent roof top gardens. Interior finishes and furniture further connect interior spaces to the natural exterior. Art throughout the medical center complements the building’s natural surroundings. Abstracted elements of nature in multiple mediums by local, diverse Virginia- based artist provides views of nature and educational opportunities to all public spaces, while large scale macro nature photography creates soothing exam room environments.
