Riverside Seeks Local Art for New Medical Campus
NASSAWADOX, VA. – Riverside’s focus on the communities it serves applies not only to offering as many local services as possible, but also to honoring what makes those communities special. As construction progresses on the medical campus in the Onley/Onancock area, Riverside is asking local artists to submit samples of their work to be selected to be displayed in the public and patient areas of the campus.
Research has determined that art in healthcare spaces can have a therapeutic effect, helping to inspire, soothe and relieve stress. Featuring works by local artists provides interpretations of familiar landscapes, seascapes and local subject matter through the eyes of those who live in the area.
Artists currently living or working on the Eastern Shore will be given first consideration, followed by Hampton Roads area artists, Virginia artists and others.
Art Size: 16″ X 20″
Art Medium:
Artists are asked to submit images of their work and not the original work itself. Submittals can be digital images, transparencies or printed images with a maximum of 4 images per medium. Media can be sculpture, oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas, pastel, watercolor, colored pencil, mosaic tile, quilt, glass, fiber, full color or black and white photography, metal and mixed media.
Required Criteria:
Images must be accompanied by a description of the medium, the image size and the artist’s pricing for each submittal. Art will need to be sized 16 inches by 20 inches and larger. Traditional and contemporary styles of artwork will be considered equally. Dark shadows, stormy skies or confrontational figurative images will not be accepted.
