Barbara Harriman Receives Award at Healthcare Facilities Symposium and Expo
Barbara Harriman, Distinctive Art Source president, is honored to be the recipient of the Individual Award, which was presented at the Healthcare Facilities Symposium and Expo in Chicago in October. She received the award for her leadership in the field of healthcare art and her work as a pioneer in providing customized patient- and evidence-based art programs for healthcare facilities.
Harriman has 28 years of experience in healthcare art consulting, and a broad background that includes work in commercial interior design, contract administration, lighting, and mechanical and electrical design. In addition, she is a national speaker in the healthcare industry, having delivered presentations at a number of conferences, including the Healthcare Facilities Symposium and Expo.
Harriman describes creative projects as having their “own personality and energy,” and notes that creating a successful, evidence-based, facility-oriented and patient-appropriate art program means becoming a part of this energy. She notes that her favorite task as creative director is identifying the uniqueness of each facility and guiding the art program along a creation path that visually interprets this individuality.
