THIS CALL IS CLOSED
Southeast Cancer Center, Cape Girardeau, Missouri will feature a fluid design, world class technology and highly trained and skilled staff of physicians and other healthcare personnel. The art program at the Cancer Center will not only reflect the world-class facility but will also play an integral role in the patient experience. The Art Committee would like to feature local artists’ works that are patient and healthcare appropriate in the new facility opening February 7, 2011. Images will be selected and placed based on content, style and cost.
To: Artists living within a 200 mile radius of Cape Girardeau whose works meet the required criteria described below.

Art Guiding Principles: Art direction for The Cancer Center will be patient journey focused. All selected artwork will enhance the patient experience while enriching the interior environment. The art program will feature works that allow nature elements to be shared from the outside in and the inside out. Elements of the art program should be:
- Interactive
- Unexpected & pleasantly surprising
- Dynamic
- Imaginative
- Comforting
- Hopeful
- Welcoming/enveloping
- Reflective/introspective
- Reflective of personal patient journeys (dreams, preferences, goals)
- Celebrating life and the joy of living
Required Criteria: Research has determined that art can help reduce stress and offer the possibility of improved patient outcomes when the imagery is appropriate. Based on research the Cancer Center is requesting recognizable landscape and garden scenes that represent the local geography and topography. Images should be full color spectrum and sunny. Abstracts and images with dark shadows or stormy skies will not be accepted. Image Size: 20” x 30” or larger
Medium: All Mediums, including but not limited to: Oil on Canvas, Acrylic on Canvas, Pastel, Watercolor, Mosaic Tile, Quilts, Metal, Mixed Media, Photography, and Light Sculpture
Submittal Submit up to 4 images per medium. Include description of medium, image size,
Instructions: and artist’s cost for each submittal. Submitted images do not have to be available as they are to represent the style in which you work. Submittals can be digital images, transparencies, or printed images. No original works will be accepted as a submittal. All submittals are to be received by Distinctive Art Source on or before the November 19, 2010 deadline. The hospital will not accept any submittals.
Notification: All artists will be notified of selection on or near November 29, 2010. Submittals from artists not selected will be returned at this time.
