Virginia Hospital Center’s Timeless Modern Update
Virginia Hospital Center’s newly renovated 4th floor turned medical office space into 21 additional private rooms (30% larger than existing rooms), to meet their ever-growing need for patient beds in response to COVID.
VHC’s design goal was to create a timeless, modern, upscale residential patient unit. E4H Environments for Health introduced warm finishes including wood ceiling panels and wall accents to further the aesthetic and create a dramatic back drop for art. DAS worked with the design team to select a range of contemporary abstract art for public and patient areas to furthered their vision.
Elevator lobbies showcase large scale abstract graphics that set a modern tone, welcoming visitors and families to the new patient unit. Art centered atop wood panels, both head and footwalls, combined with warm finishes and furniture, helps bring the modern residential aesthetic into patient rooms.
