Release Date: September 28, 2020
Project: Artwork for the McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital Expansion – Petoskey Campus
Re: Call for Artists
Call for Artists: As the Building the Future of Health Care expansion project progresses, McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation (Foundation) would like to visually celebrate, through the eyes of area artists, northern Michigan and the special place it holds in the hearts of all who reside in or visit the region. On behalf of the Foundation, Distinctive Art Source, a consulting firm specializing in art programs for health care settings, will carefully select over 300 pieces of artwork for purchase and installation in the new wing on the Petoskey campus, scheduled to open early Summer 2021.
Artwork will be chosen for therapeutic properties benefitting its viewers, including patients, visitors and staff. Selected art content will reflect the natural beauty of northern Michigan along with the outdoor lifestyle that provides multi-generational family enjoyment. Art content may include regional lakes and rivers, farmland, orchards and vistas, flora and fauna native to northern Michigan, beloved local landmarks, festivals and events, and outdoor recreation such as boating, skiing, biking, and fishing.
The Foundation is partnering with Crooked Tree Arts Center and the Northwest Michigan Arts & Culture Network to connect with artists throughout northern Michigan and to support the region’s vibrant art community.
Distinctive Art Source will propose, purchase and place artwork based on content, style, cost and where the artist resides. Artwork will be featured in public and patient areas in new and renovated spaces.
To: Michigan artists, with preference given to those artists currently living in the northern Lower Peninsula and eastern Upper Peninsula.
